St. Mark’s has a long history of reaching out to others. This includes programs that help support our local communities as well as persons or communities in need in other parts of the United States or the Developing Countries. 

Some programs operate continuously, providing support throughout the year such as the Morristown Soup Kitchen. Others occur at a particular time of the year such as Crop Walk (October), Curbing Hunger (Summer Months) or the Turkey Drive (Thanksgiving). Some projects are meant to be for one year such as Smile Train or Malaria Nets as special projects sponsored by groups within St. Mark’s. The Youth Group has a new project every year. 

Most Outreach Ministry is in the form of personal time and effort. In addition, St. Mark’s also provides a small budget for dollar contributions to select local programs such as the Morristown Hospital Chaplaincy. There is growing number of overseas initiatives such as The Bishop’s World Relief Fund and adding recipients that fit with the United Nation’s Millennium Project, primarily sustainable food, health, education and equal rights programs in developing countries. 

Occasionally there will be a project to meet a special, current need. For example, St. Mark’s in Basking Ridge, NJ led a national program to raise funds from other St. Mark’s Churches across the United States to help the Gulfport St. Mark’s Church rebuild after the Katrina Hurricane.

St. Mark’s has taken the lead in outreach. Like the Gulfport project above, St. Mark’s has led the way for the Crop Walk, Curbing Hunger, Inc. and Bryan’s Dream Foundation.

There are five areas to St. Mark's Outreach program:
(1) Hunger, (2) Health, (3) Shelter, (4) Sharing and (5) Comfort and Joy.
